Myotherapy

Myotherapy is a form of physical therapy used to treat or prevent soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement caused by muscle or myofascia dysfunction.

The philosophy of myotherapy is founded on Western medical principles including anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. You don’t need a referral from a doctor to make an appointment with a myotherapist.

Our aim is to determine the causes of your pain so we can treat it correctly and effectively. Treatments can encompass many advanced hands-on techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, muscle energy techniques, dry needling, sports taping, trigger point therapy (acupressure), transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), cupping and exercise rehabilitation.

Each session typically lasts one hour.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a hands on therapy which aims to treat muscles that are damaged, knotted, tense or immobile. This treatment is used to identify and repair damaged areas of the body, whilst aiding the body’s own healing process. Depending on the injury or desired outcome, the pressure can be of deep intensity, or it can be soft and shallow.

Remedial massage is different to other forms of gentle relaxation massage. A remedial massage therapist undergoes extensive training to gain advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Therapists are trained to assess your body and design individual treatment plans for each client. Remedial massage is so much more than a “feel-good” massage.

Treatments can encompass many hands on techniques such as muscle energy technique, trigger point therapy, positional release technique, heat therapy, cupping, deep tissue massage, sports massage and stretching.

Relaxation Massage Therapy

This massage style aids with your mental and emotional health, as it calms the mind and settles the nervous system. Relaxation massage provides a general loosen up, encourages blood flow throughout the body, and helps boost the immune system by stimulating the lymphatics.
